Nerves Are Killing Me!

I have decided to audition for Regent's Got Talent this year and my talent of choice is stand up comedy.
Ahhhhh why am I doing this!? My audition is tomorrow and I am so nervous. For almost all of my life people have told me I should be a stand up comedian but I don't know if I have that spark. I love telling funny stories or responding to people in a way that makes them laugh but I don't know if I can do that on a stage! In the past when I have intentionally tried to make people laugh it didn't pan out well.

My biggest fear? What if I am not funny? What if my life has been a lie! I don't know what I'll do if I go to my audition and no one laughs. That is like a stab in the heart. THE HEART! I mean I know how to act on stage. I did that in high school.

Wooooo I'm for real freaking out. Hopefully all will go well. It will all go well! I'm just going to get up there and tell it like it is.

Thanks for letting me vent blog. I blew off a little steam. My heart is still pounding and it probably will be until tomorrow.I'll let you know what happens.

I'm A Bridesmaid !

One of my best friends is getting married and she asked me to be in the wedding!

I went to high school with Patricia and I remember talking about our weddings back then. It is funny how back then was only 2 years ago. Coming into Regent she said she was excited for the good Christian boys and she certainly found herself a good one.

Weddings are so exciting. That is the one of the things I have learned so far in this short experience. There is so much planning to do and so many chances to be creative with little details! I love the whole idea and process of it all. At this stage of my life I know I will have a long engagement so I have time to plan all this cool stuff out.

Anyway back to the bridesmaid stuff! I was there when Patty P. picked out her wedding dress which was such a delight. Unfortunately I won't be able to be there for the bridemaid's dress picking because I have work the night they are going. We will probably be wearing grey dresses because her color scheme is yellow and grey but I really hope we wear yellow. Yellow goes nice with my skin color but whatever is picked I will be happy with! To get in bridesmaid shape I started working out. I'm hoping to lose 20 pounds by April with the plan of losing 2 pounds a week! I'm just super excited to be in on such a great occasion.

This has already been and will continue to be so fun!

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows Poster
Oh my goodness! This movie was so amazing. I love the directing style of Guy Ritchie. He's so innovative.  There were many points of this film where I just stared at the screen amazed at what I was seeing. The scenes of Holmes, Watson, and the Gypsy chick running through the forest were amazingly detailed. There is so much more I can say but instead I will just urge you to take one dollar, go to the Cinema Cafe in Greenbrier on Tuesday, and see this movie!

Welcome 2012!

(relaxing) Ahhhh! It is a new year with a new semester! Last semester didn't go exactly as planned and last year passed rather quickly. This year I am taking an active role in my life. Life has always been good for me but as I've heard many say before, "Life is what you make it".

2012 is my year to set goals, follow them, and live the way I want. I feel like I've taken a deep and refreshing breath as I start this new year.

I have 6 New Year Resolutions that I plan to keep.

  1. Spend More Time With God
  2. Stop Being Late
  3. Get Organized
  4. Educate Myself
  5. Budget My Money
  6. Do not Compromise Morals, Values, or Beliefs
These are all goals are easy to keep as I change my habits and I'm excited to see where this year is going. It's going to be a great one!

My Memory Book

So over fall break I saw this memory book in Barnes and Nobles. Basically every page is a date and you fill in the year. Next to the year is an entry spot where you can list your memorable moment of that day. I love journals and books suck as these. Of course I didn't buy the one at Barnes and Nobles because it was too expensive. I found one online that was way cheaper and it came into the mail today! I'm super excited to ready this five years from now to see how I have changed. Good stuff !

Mom and Me

Just thought I would post a couple of pictures of my super awesome Mom and myself! Below we are in front of the Christmas tree that is located in the lobby of CBN building. It is a beautiful tree!
This was us in front of another Christmas tree that was downtown. We took this picture the night of the grand illumination parade! We love the Christmas trees!

Divine Intervention for Extra Credit

I am not a perfect student. Don't get me wrong, I certainly try to get all my work done on time to the best of my ability because that is not such a hard thing to accomplish but it doesn't always happen.

Right now I am taking a Script Writing class for my Cinema-TV major. We had to turn in a story bank of 13 ideas that we could work with over the semester. The goal is for one of those 13 ideas to become a full blown, awesomely written script! My story bank was not turned in on time. In fact it was turned in a week late which means I received a zero for the assignment. I didn't mean to turn the assignment in a week late! It just unfortunately slipped my mind and because of that I received my zero honorably and without complaint.

Well the following class my teacher offered extra credit but it was the type of extra credit that only required one person. All of us who raised our hands for a chance at the extra credit had to pick a number between 1-20 and the closest person would be able to complete the assignment. Before I picked my number I said a quick prayer and asked the Lord to let the first number that came to my head be the correct one. Before I even finished my prayer the number 12 popped into my mind and right as it did the teacher called on me. I said 12 and a few moments later I found out I had won the extra credit!

I cheered a little bit too loud when I found out that the number the teacher had chosen was exactly 12 but I...I don't want to say I couldn't believe it but I couldn't! A small prayer for a silly request and God responded so quickly.

The story gets even better because today as I was walking through the COM building to get to my History of Film and Television class I ran into my Script Writing teacher. He told me he would take the extra credit grade and use it towards my zero instead. What a blessing! A zero can have a huge impact on your total grade so I was more than happy that he offered this as an option.

God is so great always!
